LOCAL EVENTS WEEKEND PLANNER

DERBY DAYS
FRI-SAT – A summer festival that celebrates the uniqueness of Redmond through parades, races, contests, game booths, carnival rides, arts, music, food and much more!

SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL BEERFEST
FRI-SUN – Get the opportunity to try 200 national and international beers at Fisher Pavilion.

SEATTLE NIGHT RIDE
FRI – A fun and unique urban event for anyone who enjoys a summer night cruise by bike. 15 mile flat route, costumes and bike accessories are welcome and highly encouraged!

SEATTLE SEAFAIR PIRATES
SAT – The annual Pirates Landing returns yet again as the Seafair Pirates sail in from the seven seas to storm Alki Beach. Exhibit booths and food vendors will be present all day, along with kids’ rides and a pirate look-a-like contest.

BALLARD SEAFOOD FESTIVAL
SAT-SUN – Enjoy the traditional salmon barbecue and much more: local music, arts and crafts, family entertainment, a beer garden, a skateboarding event, and yes—lots of seafood!

JAPAN FAIR
SAT – Free workshops or seminars, featuring a range of topics from traditional arts like calligraphy and Buddhist meditation to anime drawing and Japanese robotics.

WALLINGFORD FAMILY PARADE
SAT – Celebrate the beginning of the Dog Days of Summer in Wallingford, kicking off the day with a parade that’s completely gone to the dogs. We know your furry friend wants to strut his or her stuff. Dress him or her up and join in the fun.

ARLINGTON FLY IN
FRI-SUNAirshows Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, camping fun, airplane rides, musical entertainment and the runway theater are all here.

WEDGWOOD ART FESTIVAL
SAT-SUN – Featuring locate artists, entertainment, food & fun!

REDMOND ARTS FESTIVAL
FRI-SUN – Featuring 70 local and regional artists showcasing and selling their works. Food trucks and over 20 onsite restaurants offer culinary delights along with a festival wine/beer/mimosa garden providing adult refreshments, live music and much more.

FESTIVAL OF SHORTS
FRI-SUNFour performances, eight casts, and eight shows. See how your votes compare with a panel of professional judges at the Sunday matinee performance, followed by cake and sparkling cider for all!

WOODEN O: SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS
Through August 6 – Free, outdoor productions of classical plays performed in parks throughout the Puget Sound region. Grab a picnic, bring your family and join us for some free Shakespeare in the parks!

WORLD NAKED BIKE RIDE
SATWorldwide bike ride that highlights the vulnerability of cyclists everywhere and decries society’s dependence on pollution-based transport. It’s also a lot of fun and it’s free for all!

NIGHT AT THE NEPTUNE
Through August 10 – A series of free summer performances at The Neptune in Seattle that focuses on showcasing local artists’ work as it relates to race and social justice.

CONCERTS AT THE LOCKS
Through September 16 – Enjoy summer concerts on the lawn at the Hiram M Chittenden Locks.

FREE WEEKEND WALKS
Through November – Tours are tailored for an adult audience, and the topic changes monthly. See the calendar below for details. Tour groups gather in front of the Graham Visitors Center.

MONA LISA HEIST
All Month – 165th Ave, Redmond: Take part in the most famous heist of the 20th century! An amazing adventure in the Louvre. Go through the security room, deactivating clever alarms and security systems. Get to the exhibit hall filled with ancient artifacts and paintings. Finally, steal the main exhibit piece, The Mona Lisa! Can you complete this mission in less than 60 minutes?

WINE & CHOCOLATE PAIRING
Every Thursday, Friday & Saturday
– Sweet Decadence Wine & Chocolate Bar: This fun, casual and educational experience will help novice wine drinkers develop a new appreciation for different wines while more experienced wine drinkers can get a “grape” experience as well.

LASER LIGHT SHOWS
All Month
– At the Pacific Science Center. Experience the largest and longest operating domed laser theater in the world.

SEATTLE SMASH PUTT

All Month (FRI-SUN) – Putt-putt like you’ve never played it, going out with a bang in a funky new pop-up space in Downtown Seattle. Experience brand new crazy contraptions presented with a collection of your favorites from our nostalgic past! Pacific Science Center.

SCAVENGER HUNT ADVENTURE
All Month
– Enjoy this interactive scavenger hunt that takes you on a journey to see the best sights in the city while feeling like you are on the Amazing Race.

TOURS & ACTIVITIES
All Month
– at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center. Through engaging and thought-provoking exhibits, allows parents and children to dive into some of the world’s toughest challenges and learn how to act on their own ideas and solutions. Families can expect hands-on exhibits and spaces to create, explore, and discuss.
