NEW YEAR’S EVE EVENTS:

SPACE NEEDLE FIREWORKS

SUN – The largest display of fireworks in the history of the show, set to an original music soundtrack from Seattle’s own listener-supported radio station, KEXP.

MOISTURE FESTIVAL NEW YEAR’S EVE EXTRAVAGANZA 

SUN – Variety performance, dancing, laughter and appreciation of the good times are the themes of this grand New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. Enjoy a spectacular Moisture Festival show and party. Also included in the ticket price: complimentary appetizers and a champagne toast at midnight.  

NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY

SUN – Ring in the New Year at Chihuly Garden and Glass where you’ll dine, dance and delight in the most extraordinary view of Seattle’s most iconic fireworks display through the glass ceiling.  

INDULGENCE

SUN – Three areas of live entertainment, 80’s stage, high energy party band and a live comedy theater. 140,000 sq. ft. of party space, more than 20 bars and so much more.  

SPECTRA: NEW YEAR’S EVE UNDER THE ARCHES

SUN – Boasting the best, unobstructed view of the annual fireworks show, top DJs from KEXP including: Chilly, Darek Mazzone, DJ Riz, Larry Rose and Michele Myers, and plenty of entertainment sure to delight.

NEW YEAR’S EVE: GREAT BALLS OF FIRE! 

SUN – Pianist/singer Tony DeSare takes you on a journey, spanning more than a century of piano’s greatest hits. Follow the performance with a post-concert party that includes a glass of champagne, a live performance, and dancing all the way to the midnight countdown and beyond!

FIRST NIGHT TACOMA

SUN – Evening festivities begin at  6:00 with the world’s shortest parade. Followed promptly by over a dozen stages of music, arts and entertainment. 

NEW YEAR’S DAY EVENTS

RESOLUTION RUN 5K & POLAR BEAR DIVE

MON – Start out the New Year on the right foot by walking or running. Celebrate after the race, located steps from the finish line area and the Polar Bear launch location, the Post-Race Celebration will include free chili, coffee, hot chocolate and other tasty foods and drinks.  

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE TACOMA

MON – Kick off the new year with a cool tradition—a refreshing plunge into invigorating Puget Sound!

FREE STATE PARKS DAY

MON – Spend the first day of the new year visiting one of Washington’s beautiful state parks for free.   

RESOLUTION DANCE PARTY

FRI – Enjoy this massive dance party with 18 artists on 3 stages. 18 +, wear white and gold.  

BOLLYWOOD MASQUERADE PARTY

SAT – Come uncover the mystique of Bollywood & revel in carefree playfulness at the last Jai Ho! party of 2017 in Seattle.

SACRED MUSIC BY DUKE ELLINGTON

SAT – A reverent and hip body of jazz composition, written late in his career, for jazz big band, vocal and instrumental soloists, gospel choir, and tap dancers.

MODEL TRAIN FESTIVAL

Through January 1  – Bring your family, friends, and the railroad enthusiasts in your life to see this showcase of the most spectacular and detailed model railroad scenes in the Pacific Northwest! It Includes the largest permanent model train layout in Washington.   

THE VIEW FROM SANTA’S LAP

Through SAT  –  Follow a small-town girl on the run from the law for a crime she didn’t commit while she avoids becoming the next victim. Tickets include four courses of locally sourced, organic holiday cheer.    

WINTERFEST

Through January 1Connect to a world of sparkling lights, child-sized amusements and spirited entertainment. Five weeks of festive, fun-filled, free and affordable activities await those in search of uplifting seasonal spirit or delightful diversion from the hustle and bustle of the holiday routine.  

IRVING BERLIN’S HOLIDAY INN

Through SUN – A wonderful new musical inspired by the Oscar-winning film featuring lavish sets and costumes, spectacular choreography and 20 Irving Berlin songs.

GINGERBREAD VILLAGE

Through January 1 – Stroll through Seattle’s cobblestone past and glimpse into its future, reflecting on what makes the city special. Seattle’s top architecture firms, master builders, and Sheraton Seattle culinary teams have come together to rediscover the city’s historic past and imagine the future, including its waterfront.

WILDLIGHTS

Through January 1 – Seattle’s wildest holiday lights festival returns with sparkling lights, faux snowball fights, Santa, his reindeer, and family delights.

GARDEN D’LIGHTS

Through SUN – Featuring over half a million sparkling lights formed into the whimsical shapes of plants, flowers, birds, animals, and cascading waterfalls set amid the natural beauty of the Bellevue Botanical Garden.

ZOO LIGHTS

Through January 1 – See the Zoo transformed into a colorful winter wonderland with more than a half-million lights. The holiday spirit comes aglow in this magical world of dazzling 3D animal light displays.

THE NUTCRACKER – PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET

Through THURS – George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® promises the magic that makes the holidays. Tchaikovsky’s cherished score played live by the PNB Orchestra, gorgeous scenery and costumes.

HOLIDAY WITH LIGHTS AT WILD WAVES

Select days through SUN – Little elves light up the theme park with a dazzling display of more than a million lights! Enjoy a magical evening with rides, a falling snow tent in Toyland, festive sing-a-longs, and pictures with Santa in the North Pole.

NEWSIES

Through SUN – Sure to be one of the most spectacular dance shows in Village Theatre history, this high-energy Disney musical combines Broadway-caliber entertainment with the story and tunes from the beloved cult-classic film.  

MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS

Through SUN – Make your way to SCT this holiday season for a wintry treat, fit for the whole family. Fans of A Year with Frog and Toad and Harold and the Purple Crayon will love what is sure to be a new holiday classic.

WONDERLAND

Through January 28 – Seattle’s classic Winter show is back at Can Can Kitchen & Cabaret in the Historic Pike Place Market. A glittering parade of nostalgia, exploding with dance, laughter, and all the cheer of yesteryear.

RECURRING EVENTS:

MONA LISA HEIST
All Month – 165th Ave, Redmond: Take part in the most famous heist of the 20th century! An amazing adventure in the Louvre. Go through the security room, deactivating clever alarms and security systems. Get to the exhibit hall filled with ancient artifacts and paintings. Finally, steal the main exhibit piece, The Mona Lisa! Can you complete this mission in less than 60 minutes?

WINE & CHOCOLATE PAIRING
EVERY THURS, FRI, SAT – Sweet Decadence Wine & Chocolate Bar: This fun, casual and educational experience will help novice wine drinkers develop a new appreciation for different wines while more experienced wine drinkers can get a “grape” experience as well.

LASER LIGHT SHOWS
ALL MONTH – Experience the largest and longest operating domed laser theater in the world.

SEATTLE SMASH PUTT
All Month (FRI-SUN) – Putt-putt like you’ve never played it, going out with a bang in a funky new pop-up space in Downtown Seattle. Experience brand new crazy contraptions presented with a collection of your favorites from our nostalgic past! Pacific Science Center.

SEATTLE FARMERS MARKETS
Visit neighborhood farmers markets selling produce exclusively from Washington state farmers. Check out what’s going on at the Ballard, Madrona & Wallingford’s Farmer’s Markets.

TOURS & ACTIVITIES
ALL MONTH – Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center: Through engaging and thought-provoking exhibits, parents and children dive into some of the world’s toughest challenges and learn how to act on their own ideas and solutions. Families can expect hands-on exhibits and spaces to create, explore, and discuss.

EMO MUSEUM NEW YEAR’S PARTY
THURS DEC 31  Under the Space Needle: Seattle’s largest New Year’s eve party, 3 performance stages, live bands, comedians, dancing and more!

 
NEW YEAR’S AT THE SPACE NEEDLE

THURS DEC 31  Resolution goes far beyond the conventional, as it packed to the brim with the best theatrical performers and high-flying acrobats from all across the region along with a ton of live music.

 

NEW YEAR’S EVE EXTRAVAGANZA
THURS DEC 31  Hale’s Ales Palladium: Variety performance, dancing, laughter and appreciation of the good times are the themes of this grand New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. Kids Ok.

 

GINGERBREAD VILLAGE
Through JAN 3  Local architecture firms collaborate with the Sheraton Seattle culinary team to custom design, bake and build awe-inspiring gingerbread displays.

 
NEW YEAR’S STREET SHOW
SAT-THURS DEC 26-31  Bellevue Way, 7pm nightly. Join in on the fantastic celebration featuring a display of brilliant lights, dancing drummers, characters and exciting music that will have everyone rocking to the beat all while festive bubbles fall from the sky.
 
FREE STATE PARKS
FRI JAN 1  Free access New Year’s Day to any of these 140 Washington State Parks.

 

POLAR BEAR PLUNGE
FRI JAN 1  Warming refreshments will be served. While people wait for the plunge to kick off, there will be games, a photo booth & music.

 

NEW YEAR’S RUN/WALK
FRI JAN 1  Magnuson Park. 5K run/walk that has an optional Polar Bear Dive into Lake Washington just prior to the event finish line area. The post-race celebration includes a free kids dash for children 10 & under and a beer garden for those over 21.

 

SOUND OF MUSIC
Through JAN 3  Experience this Broadway musical done as only The 5th can – with a full orchestra, stunning sets and costumes, and a stellar cast of Seattle favorites.
 
WILLY WONKA
Through JAN 3  SIFF Film Center. Bring your nose, your taste buds, and your sense of adventure as you tour the most eccentric and wonderful candy factory of all, made even more outrageous by Gene Wilder’s wonderfully eccentric performance.

 

BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY
Through JAN 3  Benaroya Hall. Beethoven’s masterpiece for the ages is a wonderful way to end the year or begin the new one. The beauty and drama of the Ninth is alternately awe-inspiring and uplifting.

 

ICE SKATING
Through JAN 10  Bellevue: The region’s largest open-air holiday ice skating experience! This beloved Magic Season tradition is the perfect memory-making activity for family and friends during the holidays.

 

NEW YEAR’S FUN RUN
FRI JAN 1  Meridian Valley Country Club, Kent. This untimed fun run is intended for families and individuals from throughout the community.

 

BOAT TOUR
SAT  Enjoy a narrated tour of Lake Union & Lake Washington, lunch included.
