LOCAL EVENTS WEEKEND PLANNER

MACY’S HOLIDAY PARADE

FRI – Starting at 9AM at 7th Avenue & Pine Street. Watch marching bands, floats, and an appearance by Santa Claus.

WESTLAKE HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING 

FRI – The seasonal sights and sounds will begin around 4:30PM, with the lighting of the Westlake holiday tree and the Macy’s shining holiday star, followed by a festive fireworks display lighting up the downtown sky.

MAGIC IN THE MARKET

SAT – Get photos with Santa, free cookie decorating, live music, fresh cider, hot cocoa and much more!

WINTERFEST

Through January 1 – Connect to a world of sparkling lights, child-sized amusements and spirited entertainment. Five weeks of festive, fun-filled, free and affordable activities await those in search of uplifting seasonal spirit or delightful diversion from the hustle and bustle of the holiday routine.

NATIVE HOLIDAY GIFT FAIR

FRI-SUN – Shop for fine art, native crafts, cards, jewelry, and smoked salmon at the Native Holiday Gift Fair at the Duwamish Longhouse in West Seattle. Free.

CHRISTMAS SHIP FESTIVAL

FRI-SUN & December 1-23 – Set sail on The Spirit of Seattle decorated with hundreds of shimmery white lights and sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities – around 65 in all. Choirs on board the Christmas Ship™ perform to guests aboard and those communities gathered on shore.

GINGERBREAD VILLAGE

Through January 1 – Stroll through Seattle’s cobblestone past and glimpse into its future, reflecting on what makes the city special. Seattle’s top architecture firms, master builders, and Sheraton Seattle culinary teams have come together to rediscover the city’s historic past and imagine the future, including its waterfront.

WILDLIGHTS  

Through January 1 – Seattle’s wildest holiday lights festival returns with sparkling lights, faux snowball fights, Santa, his reindeer, and family delights.

GARDEN D’LIGHTS

Through December 31 – Featuring over half a million sparkling lights formed into the whimsical shapes of plants, flowers, birds, animals, and cascading waterfalls set amid the natural beauty of the Bellevue Botanical Garden.

HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING

SAT – Gather for carols and photos with Santa at this free community event, open to the public.

ZOO LIGHTS

Through January 1 – See the Zoo transformed into a colorful winter wonderland with more than a half-million lights. The holiday spirit comes aglow in this magical world of dazzling 3D animal light displays.

FREE STATE PARKS DAY

FRI – Spend a beautiful fall day at any state park for free!

SANTA TRAIN

Through December 17 – Enjoy a two-hour roundtrip excursion from North Bend to Snoqualmie. De-train at Snoqualmie Depot and enjoy refreshments served from the railway kitchen car. Guests visit with Santa in the seasonally-decorated Snoqualmie Depot, and children receive a small gift from Santa.

SNOWFLAKE LANE

Through December 24 – Experience all your favorite characters, with falling snow, beautiful lights, delightful holiday music, and better viewing along the extended parade route.

THE NUTCRACKER – PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET

Through December 28 – George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® promises the magic that makes the holidays. Tchaikovsky’s cherished score played live by the PNB Orchestra, gorgeous scenery and costumes.

THE NUTCRACKER – EVERGREEN CITY BALLET

Through December 17 – Spend the holidays with magic—spend them with The NutcrackerEnjoy a night out with your family to see this spell binding production at either the hour-long or full-length performances in one of three locations. For young audiences, we have a special one-hour production.  

THE TWILIGHT ZONE LIVE

Through December 17 – It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. In its monumental 25th anniversary season, Theater Schmeater brings back the plays that made them famous when they present four episodes of the classic Rod Serling TV series “The Twilight Zone” live on stage.

FESTIVAL OF TREES

SAT through November 29 – Gorgeous designer Christmas trees will be on display in the public areas of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Come view them at any time and read the inspiring stories of our featured Seattle Children’s Hospital patients.

NEWSIES

Through December 31 – Sure to be one of the most spectacular dance shows in Village Theatre history, this high-energy Disney musical combines Broadway-caliber entertainment with the story and tunes from the beloved cult-classic film.  

REINDEER FESTIVAL

Through December 24 – Bring the whole family to be the first to visit Santa’s reindeer, Dasher and Blitzen, do some holiday shopping, and see the nursery beautifully decorated for the season!

MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS

Through December 31 – Make your way to SCT this holiday season for a wintry treat, fit for the whole family. Fans of A Year with Frog and Toad and Harold and the Purple Crayon will love what is sure to be a new holiday classic.

WONDERLAND

Through January 28 – Seattle’s classic Winter show is back at Can Can Kitchen & Cabaret in the Historic Pike Place Market. A glittering parade of nostalgia, exploding with dance, laughter, and all the cheer of yesteryear.

SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY COMPETITION

Through SUN – 26 days, 22 shows, 18 venues, 32 comedians form the US, Canada, UK & Japan.

Through November – Tours are tailored for an adult audience, and the topic changes monthly. See the calendar below for details. Tour groups gather in front of the Graham Visitors Center.

MONA LISA HEIST
All Month – 165th Ave, Redmond: Take part in the most famous heist of the 20th century! An amazing adventure in the Louvre. Go through the security room, deactivating clever alarms and security systems. Get to the exhibit hall filled with ancient artifacts and paintings. Finally, steal the main exhibit piece, The Mona Lisa! Can you complete this mission in less than 60 minutes?

WINE & CHOCOLATE PAIRING
EVERY THURS, FRI, SAT – Sweet Decadence Wine & Chocolate Bar: This fun, casual and educational experience will help novice wine drinkers develop a new appreciation for different wines while more experienced wine drinkers can get a “grape” experience as well.

LASER LIGHT SHOWS
ALL MONTH – Experience the largest and longest operating domed laser theater in the world.

SEATTLE SMASH PUTT
All Month (FRI-SUN) – Putt-putt like you’ve never played it, going out with a bang in a funky new pop-up space in Downtown Seattle. Experience brand new crazy contraptions presented with a collection of your favorites from our nostalgic past! Pacific Science Center.

Visit neighborhood farmers markets selling produce exclusively from Washington state farmers. Check out what’s going on at the Ballard, Madrona & Wallingford’s Farmer’s Markets.

SAT – Featuring between 50-150 local artisans, a unique lineup of live musicians and/or DJs, live painting, body painting, along with other forms of entertainment. Oh, and of course pancakes!

CIRRUS CIRCUS ANNUAL SHOW

SAT – Acro-Biographies will feature all-new original numbers on aerial fabric, German wheel, teeterboard, lyra, duo trapeze, partner acro, ladder, contortion, cyr wheel, and juggling.

GRILLED CHEESE GRAND PRIX

FRI-SAT – Enjoy over 30 uniquely cheesy pop-ups and offerings designed around bread, cheese, meat and everything in between over a two day-period inside the historic Magnuson Park Hangar 30.

HOLIDAY MARKET IN SNOHOMISH

SAT – Shop from 65 juried vendors of handcrafted items and gourmet foods at the Holiday Market, with live music in the barn at Thomas Family Farm. Free.

FESTIVAL OF TREES

YULEFEST

QUILT, CRAFT & SEWING FESTIVAL

THURS-SUN – Find a wide variety of sewing, quilting, needle-art and craft supply exhibits from many quality companies. Free demos, make ‘n takes and daily door prizes.  

TEDx SEATTLE

SAT – TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Providing general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

NEWSIES

BLUE JAY BRINGS BACK THE MOON

SAT – Northwest Coast Salish tribes’ trickster character, who through his antics brings us laughter, pranks, and yes, even powerful lessons.

BREW SEATTLE

FRI – The city’s largest local-breweries-only tasting event (with cideries too!) features breweries located within Seattle, tapping the local creativity popping up all over our Emerald City.

AMERICA’S LARGEST ANTIQUE & COLLECTIBLE SHOW

SAT-SUN – Shop through vintage items from the 1880s to the 1970s. Featuring 400 booths with items ranging from salt & pepper shakers to vintage slot machines. Collecting, decorating and wearing vintage has never been more popular, particularly with the emphasis on recycling and repurposing.

NORTHWEST ORCHID SOCIETY FALL SHOW & SALE

SAT-SUN – Featuring a variety of flowers and displays from NWOS members and other societies in the region. Local and visiting orchid vendors will be present with plants and supplies for sale. Society members will also be providing repotting services and hourly educational talks on orchids and growing advice for hobbyists.

GREEN BUILDING SLAM

FRI-SAT – Learn about 10 innovative, sustainable, high-performance “green” buildings that push the envelope in our built environment. Projects range from residential to multi-family to mixed use developments in the Seattle area.

SNOHOMISH BREWFEST

FRI-SAT – Featuring over 30 local craft brewers from the Pacific Northwest, showcasing 75 unique and specialty brews for tasting in an outstanding setting at Thomas Family Farm.

HEATHER TARTAN BALL & SILENT AUCTION

SAT – Don your Clan tartan and plan to attend an evening of Scottish entertainment with pipe bands, highland dancing, country dancing, ballroom dancing, and a Silent Auction.

HILLOWEEN

SAT – Indoor Halloween kid’s carnival full of circus-themed activities, carnival games, and live performances. Plus a costume parade and trick or treating!  

PUMPKIN BASH

SAT-SUN – Visit the Woodland Park Zoo for Family-friendly Boomazium fun including not-so-scary storytelling and puppet shows, trick or treating, activities and much more.

HALLOWEEN PARTY CRUISE

SAT – 3-hour party cruise on Lake Washington or Lake Union. Come dressed to stir up a little fright and win our costume contest. Leave normal at the dock and dance the night away to “Thriller“ and “Monster Mash!” 

HALLOWEEN STORYTELLING TRAIN

Through October 31 – The Seattle area’s largest indoor/outdoor haunted house. Fear follows as you wind through a trail of terror nearly a mile long that leads you to a dreadful haunted house.

NILE NIGHTMARES

Through October 31 – Face your worst nightmares in these various themed horror attractions. As you make your way through the Nile grounds, beware of the evils that lurk in the shadows. Survivors can catch their breath in our Food and Fear Garden featuring award-winning guest food trucks and classic treats, as well as frothy evil elixirs.

CARLETONS FARM FRIGHTS

Through October 31 – Enjoy shooting zombies from the paintball wagon ride then leave the paintball guns behind and navigate a dark cornfield infested with Zombies. Haunted Swamp (cornfield) with sounds, lights, props, etc.

THOMAS FAMILY FARM

Through October 31 – Have a seat on a custom hayride and arm yourselves with one of our paintball guns. Save Snohomish from being overrun by Zombies! Also enjoy a flashlight corn maze and haunted house!

CAMPFIRE: IMPROVED GHOST STORIES

THURS  – Take a trip back to the campfires of our childhood when talented storytellers spin spooky stories around the fire. Our improvisers gather true-life events from YOU and turn them into improvised campfire stories and hilarious scenes.

Through November 4 – The morgue holds what is considered to be the most horrifying unsolved crime in Seattle history. Venture through the halls and experience one of Seattle’s scariest haunted houses. Not suitable for kids under 12.

Through October 31 – Presenting two updated and exciting haunted attractions. Begin your journey at THE REDEMPTION, Haunted Hollow’s spooky walk through the afterlife. If you survive, dare the nearly 15,000 square feet of SHADOWS through multiple themes designed to test your courage and sanity!

Through October 29 – A 35-minute creepy quest through the corn with around-the-corner, emotional roller coaster thrills through the forest.

Thursdays through October 31 – Creating a haunt attraction experience that offers attendees the chance to delve into a horror entertainment that takes them far beyond the typical Halloween haunt attraction.

Through November 4 – The morgue holds what is considered to be the most horrifying unsolved crime in Seattle history. Venture through the halls and experience one of Seattle’s scariest haunted houses. Not suitable for kids under 12.

Through October 31 – Presenting two updated and exciting haunted attractions. Begin your journey at THE REDEMPTION, Haunted Hollow’s spooky walk through the afterlife. If you survive, dare the nearly 15,000 square feet of SHADOWS through multiple themes designed to test your courage and sanity!

Weekends through October 29 – Thrill seekers will navigate through the park with more than 25 rides in the dark. Nightmares come to life in two bone-chilling haunted houses and one haunted trail through the woods. Little goblins head to Booville, a scare-free zone for children ages 12 and under, featuring spooky crafts and games.

HAUNTED WOODS

Through October 29 – A 35-minute creepy quest through the corn with around-the-corner, emotional roller coaster thrills through the forest.

All Month – 165th Ave, Redmond: Take part in the most famous heist of the 20th century! An amazing adventure in the Louvre. Go through the security room, deactivating clever alarms and security systems. Get to the exhibit hall filled with ancient artifacts and paintings. Finally, steal the main exhibit piece, The Mona Lisa! Can you complete this mission in less than 60 minutes?

WINE & CHOCOLATE PAIRING
EVERY THURS, FRI, SAT – Sweet Decadence Wine & Chocolate Bar: This fun, casual and educational experience will help novice wine drinkers develop a new appreciation for different wines while more experienced wine drinkers can get a “grape” experience as well.
